About Hrazdan Stadium
Hrazdan Stadium is a historical building in Hrazdan Gorge, built between 1968 and 1970. Architects Koryun Hakobyan and Gurgen Musheghyan designed it, with Eduard Tosunyan as structural engineer.
The stadium was ready in November 1970. Its opening ceremony was held on 29 November that year after the planned ceremony had been postponed because of heavy snow; a separate official opening took place on 19 May 1971. That day, Ararat Yerevan beat Kairat Almaty 3–0 in the first official football match, in front of 78,000 spectators.
The stadium measures 260 × 180 metres, and its playing field is 114 × 69 metres. After renovation works in 2008, it became an all-seater venue. Its capacity was reported as up to 70,000 before reconstruction and 54,208 afterward.
